Hatikva-Barbara Streisand Cover

Hebrew Words

For those who do not know hatikvah means The hope.  This is not only the Israeli national anthem but its one of my favorite Jewish melodies. I used to sing this growing up all the time and got to sing it in front of my congregation last year for a service. It was beautiful.:)

Kol ode balevav
P’nimah Nefesh Yehudi homiyah

Ulfa’atey mizrach kadimah
Ayin l’tzion tzofiyah.

Ode lo avdah tikvatenu
Hatikvah bat shnot alpayim:

L’hiyot am chofshi b’artzenu –
Eretz Tzion v’Yerushalayim

Od lo avda tikvatenu,
Hatikva bat sh’not alpayim,
Lihyot am chofshi be’artzenu
Eretz Tziyon virushalayim.

English Translation

As long as deep within the heart
A Jewish soul yearns
And toward the edges of the east
An eye to Zion looks

Our hope is not yet lost,
The hope of two thousand years,
To be a free people in our land
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.
